Peak of the Market has almost reached their first goal of $40,000 for the Canadian Red Cross to help relief efforts in Haiti.

The Winnipeg vegetable distributor announced two weeks ago that every bag purchased of Peak of the Market vegetables until February 28 would yield a 20 cent donation to the Red Cross.

On Monday, their total already stands at $36,000.

“We’re thrilled to be at $36,000 and have now increased our goal to $50,000 which is possible with this week left,” said Larry McIntosh, President and CEO, in a news release.

This will be Peak of the Market’s single largest cash donation in their 68 year history.
