It’s been a great week so far for the Manitoba Bison women’s team with the announcement of defenceman Caitlin MacDonald named to Team Canada’s Women’s Hockey Under-18 Team. The 17-year-old was also named Canada West Rookie of the Year. Her coach, Jon Rempel, only had positive things to say of the 5’7″ Winnipeg native.
Watch:
The team will travel outside the province this week, heading to Edmonton to take on the Alberta Pandas.
The women will play in the Canada West Final best-of-three playoff series to defend their conference title, while the men will also play in the series to try and win a berth into the CIS Championship in Saskatchewan. The ladies take to the ice on Friday and Saturday, and if necessary, a third game will be played Sunday.
