A new sports channel operated by Rogers Communications may be coming to the tube soon. The CRTC approved an application for the broadcaster to operate Rogers’ Mainstream Sports Specialty Service.
The license runs to August 31, 2016, and states the channel can carry no more than 12 minutes of commercials per hour. All commercials must also be nationally paid advertising.
The English language channel will carry NHL, MLB and UEFA games, as well as other content from major professional sports leagues.
There was no opposition to the application, the CRTC said.
The company also operates Rogers SportsNet.
