A benefit concert to help support local youth in Winnipeg will take place tonight at 7 p.m.
“Help Youth” is a fundraiser put on by The Winnipeg Foundation and will include bands from high schools across the city. St. John’s High School, Kelvin High School, Transcona Collegiate and Oak Park High School will compete in a battle-of-the-bands style showdown.
Youth in Philanthropy is an initiative that gives local youth responsibility for allocating a portion of the Foundation’s granting budget. In 2008-09, student grantmakers made 164 grants to a wide range of charities, for a total of $115,741.
Proceeds from tonight’s concert will go to support Art City and Inner City Youth Alive.
The event takes place at The Park Theatre, 698 Osborne Street.
