RCMP believe alcohol to be a factor in a fatal crash on Highway 227 near Portage la Prairie on Saturday.

At around 7 p.m., a Ford Mustang travelling westbound hit an eastbound Ford F-150 pulling a trailer. The lone male driver of the Mustang was taken to Portage General Hospital with injuries, and was later transferred to the Health Sciences Centre.

The 36-year-old man from Sandy Bay First Nation succumbed to his injuries in Winnipeg.

The 36-year-old male driver of the F-150 and his 12 year-old male passenger, were treated on scene for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation continues.
