Thompson Man Faces Second-Degree Murder Charge

March 15, 2010 7:03 AM | News

RCMP have charged a Thompson man with murder after an investigation over the weekend.

On Saturday morning, police responded to a call of a trail of blood on a wooded walking path in Thompson. The trail led officers for about two kilometres, where they found a deceased 25-year-old man identified as David Riley Cook of The Pas.

RCMP traced the blood trail to a residence nearby on Waterloo Crescent, there they believe the murder took place.

Cary Spence, 24, of Thompson was detained and faces a second-degree murder charge. He appears in court later today.

An autopsy on the victim is scheduled at the Health Sciences Centre today.

Police say the victim and accused knew each other.
