A new program designed to make it safer for Canadian children to walk and bike to school is set to be launched today.

The School Travel Planning program will expand to communities in every province and territory in the country with the help of federal funding. Manitoba’s phase will be officially kicked off at a news conference later this morning at Carpathia School.

The program is being launched by Green Communities Canada — a national association of non-profit organizations that deliver innovative, practical environmental solutions to Canadian households and communities.
