Guy Maddin Wins Film Award at SXSW Festival

Famed Winnipeg filmmaker Guy Maddin has picked up another award to add to his collection.

Maddin won for best experimental short at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas on Wednesday.

The comedic film “Night Mayor” focuses on a Bosnian immigrant (Nihad Ademi) who can manipulate aurora borealis to showcase images of his adoptive country to fellow Canadians. However, his fantastic abilities upset the government.
