Striking CNIB Workers Holding Solidarity Rally

March 18, 2010 6:38 AM | News

Staff at the local branch of the Canadian Institute for the Blind (CNIB) have been on strike since Monday. At issue are employee wages and benefits, which workers say should be the same across the country.

A solidarity rally has been organized this afternoon from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. outside the CNIB office at 1080 Portage Avenue.

The union representing the striking workers — UFCW Local 832 — has also called a news conference. Union president Robert Ziegler, as well as locked out workers, will address the media with their concerns.
