The 12 people stranded on a closed winter road 200 km south of the Island Lake area have been rescued, including an additional person, RCMP say.
The 13 individuals from Garden Hill First Nation and St. Theresa Point First Nation were picked up Thursday at the Thunderbird Lodge by a convoy of 30 semi-trailer trucks. The trucks drove them south to Bloodvein First Nation, but because of the muddy road conditions, were only able to travel 7 km/h.
Police had originally chartered a plane Friday to find them, not knowing they had already been located a day earlier.
All of those rescued are reported to be in good health.
