Chilean Fundraiser Supporting Canadian Red Cross

Chile Faces Major Destruction After Massive 8.8 Earthquake

A fundraiser to assist in relief efforts in Chile after the massive earthquake on February 27 will take place tonight at the University of Manitoba.

Premier Greg Selinger and U of M President and Vice-Chancellor David Barnard will speak at the event in University Centre on the Fort Garry campus.

Raise the Roof Party for the People of Chile begins at 8 p.m. and was organized by the same group behind the Haitian earthquake fundraising event earlier this year. The Haiti event ended up raising $25,000 for the Canadian Red Cross — the same organization where funds raised tonight will go.
