Retailers On Board with Reusable Bag Day

March 22, 2010 7:04 AM | News

Doing some shopping today? Bring your reusable bag from home. That’s the message organizers of Reusable Bag Day want to get across.

All major retail outlets are on board with the idea, including Kildonan Place Shopping Centre, who will be giving away free tote bags to customers spending $40 or more in the mall.

“We are all aware of the damming effects to the environment that plastic bags cause, so this is truly one sure way of moving us away from the habit of using plastic bags,” said organizer Don Woodstock.

Reusable Bag Day is a joint effort by the members of the Canadian Council of Grocery Distributors, Retail Council of Canada, Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers, Multi-Material Stewardship Manitoba and individual stores and malls throughout Winnipeg and Manitoba.
