Teen Dies After Rollover Near Minnedosa

March 29, 2010 9:16 AM | News

A 13-year-old boy has died as the result of a vehicle rollover on Highway 10 about 4 km south of Minnedosa.

RCMP say the 2004 Ford Explorer lost control on the highway at about 1 p.m. on Sunday and hit the west ditch while heading southbound.

Five people from the Dauphin Grandview area were in the vehicle at the time and two teenage males were ejected. Police say it appears they may not have been wearing seatbelts.

A third teenage male was treated and released at Minnedosa hospital. The driver and front passenger were not injured.

The two ejected males were transferred to the Health Sciences Centre, where the 13-year-old died Monday morning.

The second male is listed in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Four of the passengers are related, and the other is a friend.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors.

Names of the occupants are not being released at this time.

The investigation continues and no charges are being considered at this time.
