The Winnipeg Goldeyes have signed catcher Travis Howell to the 2010 roster — less than a month before training camp opens on May 4.
Goldeyes manager Rick Forney made the announcement Wednesday, which puts the number of players so far this season to 24.
Howell, 25, arrives after spending two seasons with the Seattle Mariners. A .241 hitter with a solid .444 caught stealing percentage, he signed with Seattle out of NCAA Div. I Long Beach State and proceeded to earn post-season all-star honours as a rookie in the Northwest (A) League.
