A five kilometre walk in support of WaterCan is planned for Earth Day on Thursday.
Staff from the 12 Manitoba Aveda salon locations will participate in the “I Walk for Water” event simulating a journey an average east African woman makes to get clean drinking water every day.
Aveda’s national goal is $325,000, as similar walks will take place in 18 Canadian cities at the same time.
Participants will begin the walk at 9 a.m. at the Legislative Building and head east down Broadway to City Hall, before returning to the Legislature.
WaterCan is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending poverty by helping the world’s poorest people gain access to clean water, basic sanitation, and hygiene education.
