The executive director of the Festival du Voyageur, Josée Vaillancourt, will no longer hold the position as of next month. The Board of Directors made the announcement Tuesday, saying Vaillancourt will step down in May to assume the role of executive director at a similar cultural festival called Réseau Ontario in the National Capital Region.
“I hold the Festival du Voyageur close to my heart and that is why the decision to leave was difficult,” Josée Vaillancourt said in a statement. “The time has come for me to explore new professional challenges while getting closer to my family in Ottawa. I keep wonderful memories and wish to thank the community for their hospitality and friendship. Manitoba will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Vaillancourt joined the Festival du Voyageur team in 2004 and became executive director in 2007.
The Board is looking for her successor and will be accepting applications until May 12. Interested applicants are encouraged to forward their resumé with a cover letter to selection@festivalvoyageur.mb.ca.
