Winnipeg Escape Artist Dean Gunnarson Big Hit in China

May 1, 2010 7:30 AM | Entertainment

Winnipeg escape artist Dean Gunnarson is currently in China, where he’s been wowing crowds nightly with his daring acts. His latest included being shackled into a barrel of water for over two minutes while handcuffed (right).

Dean is performing at the Puyang International Acrobatics Magic Festival, where Chinese media have been giving him rave reviews.

“They keep trying to kill me everyday by either trying to drown me or chaining me and hanging from a burning rope upside down,” Dean said in an e-mail to ChrisD.ca Friday night.

Before heading overseas, Dean performed locally at a benefit for Winnipeg Harvest where he escaped from a 240-litre tank of beer.
