If you notice donation boxes at the checkout counter at your local Walmart, toss in some change.

The mega retailer kicked off its annual fundraising campaign Thursday in support of the Children’s Miracle Network. The campaign concludes June 13 with the Walmart Walk for Miracles at St. Vital Park. The goal of $4 million has been set to support the 2.6 million children who receive care each year at children’s hospitals throughout Canada.

Walkathons will take place in 12 cities nationwide. Locally, the walk will support the 130,000 patients the Winnipeg’s Children’s Hospital treats annually.

Funding will go to critical hospital equipment, programs and pediatric research at these facilities.
