Neepawa Hosting Manitoba’s 140th Birthday Celebration

Organizers in Neepawa are working on last-minute preparations before the town celebrates Manitoba’s 140th birthday on Wednesday.

The town won the privilege to host the event in a “Celebrate Manitoba Day” contest held last year by Manitoba Homecoming 2010.

“We were thrilled to win and have been planning this event for over a year,” said Amanda Cathcart, Leisure Services Manager, Town of Neepawa. “When our committee first met, we had thought it was going to be a one day event. But our community really got behind this initiative and helped us extend the party to four days. We look forward to showcasing our great town to the rest of the province.”

“The Town of Neepawa has been working hard to plan an awesome party and all of Manitoba is invited to attend,” said Kevin Walters, Executive Director, Manitoba Homecoming. “The events start on Wednesday with Manitoba’s official birthday party, a Night of Comedy on Thursday, a free social featuring Bryce Pallister on Friday night and ends with a performance by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds Demonstration Team and World’s Largest Social featuring Kenny Shields and Streetheart, Sierra Noble and Katherine Penfold on Saturday.”

The four-day birthday celebration is filled with activities. To see a complete list, visit ManitobaHomecoming2010.com.
