The City of Winnipeg will begin its annual road marking program today.

Crews will line over 1,000 km of roadway throughout the summer, including 600 signalized intersections, 150 pedestrian corridors, 400 crosswalks and other specialty markings for bike facilities and reserved transit lanes. Major routes will receive two or more coats of paint during the program.

Approximately 95,000 litres of painted mixed with about 30,000 kilograms of glass beeds will be applied to the roads. The beeds help improve reflectivity of the painted lines.

Motorists are reminded to use caution when maneuvering around machinery and personnel.
