‘Project Elmwood’ to Restock Charred Day Care

May 12, 2010 7:21 AM | News

Volunteers are assembling this weekend to make sure the Elmwood Day Nursery at 75 Brazier Street has the supplies it needs to move forward as a day care and community centre.

The facility sustained almost $1 million in damages on Sunday when a fire ripped through the building. Arson investigators believe the blaze was deliberately set.

Hot 103’s Ace Burpee has put together ‘Project Elmwood’ in hopes of collecting items to provide for the day care’s temporarily relocated operation. “Little chairs, tables, books, toys, sporting equipment… you name it… we’ll take it,” Ace wrote on his blog Tuesday.

This weekend is also Giveaway Weekend, so Ace is hoping Winnipeggers choose to donate some of their unwanted possessions instead of leaving them by the curb.

Anyone wanting to help out is asked to send an e-mail to ace@hot103live.com.
