The headlining acts for Kidsfest 2010 were announced on Wednesday. The four-day event runs June 10-13 at The Forks and features some of the best children’s performers from Winnipeg and abroad.
“We’ve got so many great acts coming this year — it’s really a great mix of music, education, entertainment, and comedy for kids,” said Executive Producer Neal Rempel. “I think it’s the best one we’ve ever offered.”
Bobs & Lolo from Treehouse TV fame will bring their own singalong show, Ache Brasil will offer Brazilian martial arts heroes who specialize in an acrobatic form of dance called Capoiera, and Le Groupe Swing is a bilingual duo blending pop music and franco-ontarien folklore.
Other acts include Hilby — “The Skinny German Juggle Boy,” The Chairmen, Fred Penner & The Cat’s Meow Band, Al Simmons and many others.
Back by popular demand is the interactive venue, “Artists & Audiences – Bridging the Gap,” where headline artists conduct hands-on workshops. “We offer kids the chance to experience flying through the air on a swinging trapeze. They can learn some cool magic tricks, try some dancing moves and make music on all kinds of silly things. It’s a guaranteed ton of fun!” said Rempel.
