Annual ‘Run for Rights’ Fundraising with Each Step

May 18, 2010 7:04 AM | News

Fifteen local social justice and human rights organizations are coming together for the 9th annual Run for Rights set for Saturday, June 5.

Participants can run, walk, cycle or rollerblade through Kildonan Park to fundraise for their organization.

“It truly is an amazing event, bringing together people from all backgrounds, ages and walks of life in support of some extremely important causes,” said Krista Smith, a representative from Engineers without Borders and this year’s Run for Rights co-chair and volunteer coordinator.

The 5k or 10k fun run is sanctioned by Athletics Manitoba and even saw participants out on skateboards last year.

Local musicians have come together to provide entertainment for the event, including Ida Sawabe from the Magnificent Sevens, guitar player Bobby Stahr, Daniel Roy, and Martin Mulimbwa from Clear Vox.
