As part of National Hunger Awareness Day, Winnipeg Harvest will hold a “Soup-er Lunch” on Tuesday, June 1 in the concourse at MTS Centre.
From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., people can sample soups and breads and then select a handmade bowl made by a student to take home.
Student representatives and teachers will be on hand, making bowls, manning tables displaying photos, video and artwork depicting their Empty Bowls projects and helping customers select a bowl to take home.
This event shines a light on the good work being done by youth in the community in helping Winnipeg Harvest to fight hunger and feed hope by holding community soup and bread dinners.
Tickets are $10 at the door and proceeds will go support hungry families in Manitoba. For every $10 ticket, the food bank is able to distribute $200 worth of food.
