It’s the International Day of Biodiversity today, and if the rain can hold off, it will make the activities planned at Assiniboine Park Zoo a bit more enjoyable.
Winnipeg’s zoo, along with 24 other zoos and aquariums across Canada, is launching a national awareness campaign to support the preservation of biodiversity — the animals, plants, and countless other life forms that make up the world’s ecosystems.
The Assiniboine Park Zoo is hosting a Biodiversity Display and Turtle Talk from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Tropical House. The zoo will also be highlighting biodiversity conservation in many of its annual programs, such as school presentations, Spring Summer Zoo Camps and interpretive talks around the Zoo.
