Pride Winnipeg has adopted an environmentally friendly plan this year for their rally, parade, and festival.
“Our Pride events in Winnipeg are growing and attracting thousands more participants and spectators than in the past,” said Barb Burkowski, Chair of the Pride Winnipeg committee. “Our new green strategy will ensure that the environment stays top-of-mind as we plan events for this year and years to come.”
All food vendors will be required to use compostable cups, containers, and cutlery, festival decorations will be 100% recyclable, and beverage tents will offer recycling and composting disposal.
“The Green Plan will help us reduce our environmental footprint as much as possible by reducing and reusing waste,” said Burkowski.
The Winnipeg Pride Festival is Sunday, June 6.
