Canadians Walking for Arthritis This Weekend

May 26, 2010 6:09 AM | News

Canadians affected by arthritis will come together on Sunday, May 30 for the Walk to Fight Arthritis — taking place in 17 communities across the country.

The Arthritis Society is putting on the event to help raise awareness and funds for a cure, which nearly three in every five people under the age of 65 suffer from.

Canadian hockey legend Wendel Clark will be taking part this weekend along with former hockey mates in support of family members with the disease. “I’m thankful that I personally haven’t developed arthritis, but I know it can happen — and I see how deeply it affects the people I care about every day,” said Clark.

Winnipeg’s walk will begin at the Scotiabank Stage at The Forks at 1 p.m. Participants can choose to walk 1 km or 5 km.
