An inaugural 10 km walk to raise awareness and money for the Tallman Foundation’s scholarship fund will take place on Saturday. Full scholarships that include tuition, books and bus fare are awarded to students at St. John’s and Sisler High schools.
10,000 Steps to Change Walk will begin at the front entrance of Rainbow Stage at 10 a.m. and end at St. John’s High School.
Participants include students from St. John’s, Sisler, Victoria-Albert, David Livingstone and Luxton schools. Sisler alumnus and Winnipeg Goldeyes’ Record League pitcher Donnie Smith, St. Boniface Heart Surgeon, Cardiovascular and Thoracic Dr. Ed Pascoe, Tec Voc alumnus and retired police chief Jack Ewatski, Minister of Family Services and Consumer Affairs Gord Mackintosh, and former Winnipeg North MP Judy Wasylycia-Leis will also lace their track shoes for the walk.
