Flooded Streets Wreak Havoc Citywide

May 29, 2010 11:41 PM | News

A downpour Saturday night flooded parts of Bishop Grandin Boulevard near the Pembina Highway underpass. Traffic both eastbound and westbound was slowed down as police directed motorists and helped to move stalled cars out of the way.

Traffic westbound from the Pembina turnoff was completely blocked off by police.

Watch:

The rain also flooded Rumor’s Comedy Club again, which reopened last November after being closed several months after a flood in July. Staff say it will take nowhere near the same amount of time it took last summer to clean up.

Expect more flooded streets and basements on Sunday, as Environment Canada is calling for several more millimetres of rain before this system passes through southern Manitoba. Flood officials with the province are expected to activate the Red River Floodway gates before Monday.
