After nearly a month rollerblading from Vancouver, 21-year-old Dan Cloutier (shown above with friend Chantal Courcelles) stopped in Winnipeg on Saturday before continuing his journey out east.
The full-time Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface student is rollerblading across Canada in support of cancer research after losing his uncle to the disease.
“As a close-knit French family, it really hit us hard,” Cloutier said.
Cloutier hosted a car wash and BBQ fundraiser at the Petro-Canada Certigard on St. Annes Road to help add to the nearly $7,000 already raised for the Canadian Cancer Society. Donations can also be made online at DontStopBelieving.ca.
After his brief stop back home, Cloutier will continue his trek, where he hopes to reach Halifax, Nova Scotia by July.
