This beautiful shot was taken Sunday afternoon on Willowdale Road a few kilometres east of Birds Hill Park after the skies began to clear up after a tumultuous weekend. The Hillside Transfer Station in the area — or simply the ‘garbage dump’ as locals refer to it — is packed with fresh items, such as wet furniture and other soggy belongings.
With another downpour early Monday, but then sunny skies for the remainder of the day, the week is looking to be off to a great start. But don’t let your guard down just yet — especially if you’re one of the unlucky ones who received water damage over the last few days. Environment Canada’s extended forecast is calling for more moisture by the weekend. Cross your fingers that doesn’t happen.
And not to be the bearer of bad news, but do we need to remind you that warmer weather after this wet spill creates excellent conditions for mosquito breeding? Sorry about that. Now we know what city entomologist Taz Stuart feels like.
