Goldeyes Drop First Game of Series to T-Bones

June 8, 2010 6:44 AM | Sports

The Winnipeg Goldeyes took a hit Monday night losing 12-3 to the Kansas City T-Bones.

While the T-Bones currently sit at a record 12-5 for the season, the Fish still dominate at nearly the top spot in the Northern League at 10-8, just below Fargo.

The game was fairly tight most of the night, but took a turn in the top of the eighth inning with Kansas City leading 4-2. A grand slam home run by T-Bones’ left fielder Brian Joynt didn’t help the Goldeyes, which turned the scoreboard to an instant 8-2.

To add to the pummeling, the T-Bones added another four runs in the ninth inning in front of 5,055 fans at Canwest Park.

The Fish hope for redemption in tonight’s rematch against the Northern League’s top team, as they host Kansas City again at 7 p.m. in Game 2 of the four-game series.
