Put Those Sneakers in Motion Today at Noon

June 10, 2010 7:14 AM | News

Hundreds of University of Manitoba students and faculty will break out silly costumes today to participate in the 21st annual Sneakers in Motion Day healthy living and wellness celebration.

The popular event is to get the university community active and will take place at the west end of Curry Place, the pedestrian mall that runs east from Frank Kennedy Centre toward University Centre.

A warm-up will loosen everyone up, followed by a short or long walk, and the chance to go through an obstacle course. After the walk, prizes will be awarded for participants in the Slickest Sneaker, Grooviest Headwear, and Bust-A-Move categories, among others.

Sneakers in Motion Day runs from noon to 1 p.m.

UPDATE: Due to weather, the opening and closing ceremonies have been moved to the Max Bell Fieldhouse. If the weather improves, the walk will be held outside. If not, the entire event will remain inside Max Bell.
