Day three of the Milk Provincial High School Track and Field Championships came to a close Saturday at the University of Manitoba stadium.

Sisler High School took the “AAAA” banner, while the “AAA,” “AA” and “A” titles went to Sanford Collegiate, Warren Collegiate and Westmount Collegiate from Swan Lake, respectively.

The on-and-off rain didn’t dampen the day, as numerous athletes broke new records on the track.

Paul Rydberg of Margaret Barbour Collegiate in The Pas took the Varsity Boys title in tetrathlon with 2625 points, while Kayleigh Wiens of Garden Valley Collegiate in Winkler crushed the Varsity Girls category with 2199 points.

Carly Paracholski of Sisler High School clinched the Varsity Girls title in the 400M race at 55.85 seconds, while Julia Zrinyi of Vincent Massey Collegiate finished the JV Girls 800M in 2:12.14 minutes.

In hurdles action, Wyatt Eyford of Warren Collegiate cleared the 100M in 14.10 seconds in the JV Boys category.

The championships saw 1,500 high school athletes from 120 schools across Manitoba compete over a three-day period in 70 different events. The rural meet was combined with the provincial championship this year.
