The Forks is promising some stellar entertainment in the coming months after releasing its summer lineup on Monday.

The Scotiabank Summer Concert Series will kick off with Dancing Under the Canopy and Salsa Sundays, presented by Club Regent Casino.

This year’s series is comprised of four events: Kidstock, Canada Day at The Forks presented by Rogers, Folklorama Kick Off and Manitoba Music presents… The Big Show.

Dancing Under the Canopy runs four Thursday evenings in July and August and features a different musical style each week, with live bands, with dance lessons and demonstrations and lots of opportunity for free dance.

Salsa Sundays will run four Sunday evenings in July and August and is the hottest way to spend a Sunday night in Winnipeg. Salsa dancing, live Latin music, cardio salsa and cha cha salsa are all part of this “under the canopy” series that features strong audience participation.

Canada Day at The Forks will be the biggie, drawing in nearly 100,000 people every year. This year, a combination of local talent topped off with the full Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra will provide entertainment. The Waking Eyes will finish the evening, showcasing three of their songs scored by the WSO. The performances will be followed by the signature Canada Day fireworks display.
