Governor General Michaëlle Jean will honour a select group of people later this morning in Ottawa with the Order of Canada, including a Winnipeg woman.

Susan Glass is a tireless volunteer and committed philanthropist. Glass has been a pillar of support for the arts in the West and throughout Canada. She is most notably recognized for her pivotal leadership roles with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the Banff Centre, helping to provide long-term sustained support to these organizations.

Glass is also a national governor of the Shaw Festival and chair of the Canadian Arts Summit. She has also lent her dynamic and innovative leadership abilities to many organizations in Winnipeg, including the St. Boniface General Hospital and the University of Manitoba.

The Order of Canada was created in 1967 to recognize a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.
