The Winnipeg Goldeyes have signed right-handed rookie pitcher Chad Benefield to the roster.
The club made the announcement Friday morning, saying Benefield, 22, comes to the Goldeyes after a successful college career with the Division II University of South Carolina-Aiken Pacers of the NCAA.
The Georgia native was the anchor of the Pacers bullpen this past spring. He finished his senior season with a 2.70 ERA and a team-high eight saves in 27 appearances.
The Fish return home Monday to face off against Gary in a three-game set before playing Rockford the following four days.
