RCMP safely located four boaters who were reported missing early Sunday morning.
Police say a group of boaters had set out on Burrows Lake in Duck Mountain Provincial Park to fish — about 30km north of Roblin — at supper time on Saturday. Family members became worried when they did not return at their scheduled time and called 911 at about 1:30 a.m. Family had found their vehicle and boat trailer parked at the shoreline of the lake.
The boaters aged in range from 12 to 40-years-old and were located three hours later after a search effort was launched. Police found them to be stranded on the shore after their boat broke down.
Their boat was towed back to the dock by RCMP and Natural Resources.
Police credit the quick rescue to the boaters’ actions — advising someone where they were going and when to expect them back, a very important rule to follow for outdoor activities.
