Sam Katz has made it official — he’s running for mayor of Winnipeg this fall.
Katz filed his registration papers with the City Clerk’s office Tuesday morning shortly before 11 a.m. for his re-election campaign.
Watch:
The talk of any mayoral race between former NDP MP Judy Wasylycia-Leis and incumbent Sam Katz has been almost non-existent, according to critics. No announcements, no public campaigning and no platforms to unveil. Now that the mayor has signed up to campaign for a third term, it allows him to spend up to $184,000 on his efforts leading up to the October 27 election.
Katz said Tuesday he hasn’t named a campaign manager just yet, but promised an announcement on who his team will be comprised of very shortly.
Avery Petrowski, a less-known candidate, has also registered his campaign.
