Real Time Technology Now Available for Transit Riders

June 23, 2010 9:28 AM | News

Winnipeg Transit on Wednesday rolled out additional passenger information services for riders to use in real time as a way to make it easier to ride the bus.

Among those new services is BUSguide, a new mobile website for your smartphone, such as an iPhone or Blackberry. Users can access the popular Navigo trip planner and find nearby stops, as well as real time bus departures, route maps, and fare information. BUSguide can be accessed at beta.m.winnipegtransit.com.

BUSgadget was also brought out, which is software you can download to your computer that counts down upcoming real time bus departures for a passenger’s favourite stops. The application can be downloaded from the Winnipeg Transit website, which also received a makeover and is currently in its “beta” stage. The new WinnipegTransit.com includes an improved Navigo trip planner, and the ability for riders to create their own timetables for their trips. New stops and route tools are also available, making it possible for riders to find routes nearest any address, intersection, or landmark specified by a user.
