Police are investigating an accident that occurred Friday morning 4 miles north of Miami, Manitoba that sent a child to hospital.
RCMP say an eastbound GMC Sierra pickup truck proceeded through a stop sign when it was struck by a northbound Pontiac Grand Prix on Provincial Road 29 at around 9:30 a.m. The Sierra was carrying a 27-year-old male driver and his nearly two-year-old child. The child was ejected from the vehicle and transported to Boundary Trails Health Centre and then to HSC in Winnipeg in stable condition. The child was not restrained in a car seat.
The driver of the pickup, and the 17-year-old male driver of the car, both sustained minor injuries.
A dog in the truck was killed in the accident.
Police say it doesn’t appear alcohol, weather or road conditions were factors in the crash.
The child has since been released from hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
