The Manitoba Bison men’s hockey team announced two recruits for the 2010-11 season on Monday.
Forward Del Cowan and goalie Joe Caligiuri both have WHL experience and will be a huge asset to the Bisons when the season kicks off September 11 in Regina.
Cowan, 21, played for the 2009-10 WHL championship team the Calgary Hitmen in his third WHL campaign. The 6’1, 196 lbs. forward started the 2009-10 WHL season with the Brandon Wheat Kings and then played for the Prince George Cougars before finishing the season with Calgary during their championship run.
Caligiuri, 21, finished his three year WHL career in 2008-09 and then played for the 2009-10 MJHL and 2010 Anavet Cup championship team plus 2010 RBC Cup (National Junior ‘A’ championship) Finalist the Dauphin Kings while capturing the MJHL Playoff MVP honour. The 5’10”, 175 lbs. goaltender led the Kings with a 11-1 record with two shutouts and 1.70 Goals Against Average plus .930 Save Pct. in the 2010 MJHL playoffs.
