Canada Day 2010 Operating Hours — What’s Open & Closed

A number of services will be unavailable on Thursday, July 1, or operate on a reduced schedule.

Shopping Centres
All major shopping centres, including St. Vital Centre, Portage Place, Polo Park and Kildonan Place are all closed on July 1.

All libraries are closed on Thursday, July 1. Normal hours of operation resume Friday, July 2. Please check the library’s web site winnipeg.ca/library for branch locations and hours.

Other Closures
All City of Winnipeg civic offices, leisure centres and the Animal Services Agency will be closed July 1.

Assiniboine Park Zoo
Open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with free admission. The conservatory will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

All indoor pools will be closed on Thursday, July 1 except Pan Am Pool. Pan Am will be open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. All outdoor pools except Kildonan Park Pool will be open July 1. Pool times vary with most pools open noon to 7:30 p.m. Watch for an early July opening for Kildonan Park Pool. Schedules are available at Winnipeg.ca or by calling 311. Weather permitting, the following 15 wading pools will be open on Thursday, July 1: Amherst Park, Brock Cordova Park, Dakota Water Park, Bronx Park, JH Bruns Park, John M King, Home Playground, Keenleyside Park, McKittrick Park, Norquay CC, Shaughnessy, Pascoe Park, River Osborne,  Pirates Park, Vimy Ridge Park. Hours vary, but most are open 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The regular season schedule is in effect July 2. All spray pads open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and include: Fort Rouge Park, Lindenwoods CC, Provencher Park, River Heights CC and St. Norbert CC.

Garbage/Recycling Collection
No garbage or recycling collection on July 1. Friday, July 2 will be Day 4 on the five-day cycle.

Brady Road Landfill
Open from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on July 1 and July 2. Saturday, July 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Winnipeg Transit
Canada Day Service — Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday Schedule.
Special Canada Day Service — FREE Canada Day Shuttle linking Downtown, The Forks and Osborne Village. The free shuttle service begins at 12 p.m. and runs until 12 a.m.

11 Portage Extra Service
Winnipeg Transit will be operating extra bus service on Route 11 Portage for travel between The Forks and Assiniboine Park from 12 p.m. until 11 p.m. Regular transit fares apply.

Post-Fireworks Departures
Leaving The Forks — Following the fireworks at The Forks, buses will be departing from northbound and southbound Main Street at York.
Leaving Assiniboine Park —  Extra buses will be parked eastbound Portage at Overdale to take passengers downtown. Extra buses will be parked westbound Portage at Overdale to provide service to the St. James-Assiniboia area.
