The Charleswood Parkway was renamed on Wednesday in honour of late Charleswood-Tuxedo city councillor Bill Clement, who passed away in May.

The new sign was unveiled at a ceremony by Clement’s family, Mayor Sam Katz and numerous city councillors at the southeast corner of Roblin Boulevard and the Charleswood William R. Clement Parkway.

On May 12, the mayor and his executive policy committee unanimously voted in favour of renaming the parkway, which was built in 2002. On May 19, city council approved the name change.

“Bill championed many projects city-wide for which he will certainly be remembered for years to come, but there is no question that his advocacy and dedication to ensure the Charleswood Parkway and Charleswood Bridge were realized in Winnipeg is a legacy he will be remembered for,” Mayor Katz said recently in a news release.
