Bicycling enthusiasts of all ages will gather at The Forks on Sunday, July 18 for the second annual BikeFest.
The one-day event is put on by Mountain Equipment Co-op and will allow riders to swap their bike, learn how to fix it, or improve how they ride it. Anyone wanting to sell parts, accessories or other items at the BikeSwap needs to reserve their spot in advance by calling 943-4202 or e-mailing [email protected].
Entertainment for the day will be provided by an outdoor sound system powered only by a generator wired to three cyclists. If they stop pedaling, so does the music. The cycle-powered concert will begin at 3 p.m. under the canopy with music from Mike Petkau of Les Jupes.
There will also be a bike polo tournament, with eight teams of three people taking part. The public can register a team by e-mailing [email protected].
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
