The Manitoba Museum’s summer exhibit is presenting special programming every Saturday until the fall.
“Shakin’ All Over” examines Manitoba’s rich musical heritage, and is a joint exhibit by the museum and Manitoba Music Experience.
On July 10, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra will host an instrument ‘petting zoo’ from noon to 4 p.m. Children can touch and play the various orchestral instruments that they would see during a symphony concert. The young ones can also check out the rhythm ensemble and round-singing activities presented by the WSO’s Music for Young Children partners.
Then on July 17, the Winnipeg Blues Society will present a blues harp workshop, followed by a jam session featuring some of the best performers from the city’s blues scene.
The Manitoba Museum’s Alloway Hall will be the home to the exhibit until September 6, and includes a stage where a variety of special guests will perform the music that has made this province famous.
