A few transactions took place Monday, as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed non-import receiver/returner Markus Howell and import defensive back Deon Beasley to the practice roster.
Howell is a former Winnipegger who returns to the Bombers after playing with the Stampeders. The 35-year-old last played with Winnipeg from 2000-2004 where he spent time as a receiver, defensive back and returner. His most successful season in blue and gold came in 2002 when he started every game and caught 38 passes for 415 yards and a touchdown — good enough for third on the team.
Deon Beasley played in 44 games with the Texas Longhorns over his four-year career including 12 starts. He finished his collegiate career with 99 tackles, three interceptions, two sacks and two forced fumbles.
The Blue Bombers also announced the release of non-import wide receiver Jabari Arthur.
Fans can see the Bombers in home action on Saturday, July 24, when they host Edmonton at Canad Inns Stadium.
