Members of the Winnipeg police slow-pitch team will face off against CFL alumni tonight in a charity softball game at Canwest Park.
The Winnipeg Police All-Stars will be raising money in support of KidSport Manitoba to help underprivileged kids take part in sports. The annual event — now in its 19th year — has raised more than $75,000 for this worthy cause.
Players participating in the session and game include hall of famers Joe Poplawski, Terry Evanshen, Willard Reeves, Bob Cameron, James Murphy, Willie Pless, Jimmy Mann, Thomas Steen, and several others.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m., followed by a free football skills clinic for the kids (no equipment required) and an autograph sessions between 5:45 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Game time is 7 p.m.
Tickets are available at the gate for $15 each. For a printable two-for-one coupon visit SportManitoba.ca.
