Flooded Winnipeg Homeowners Invited to Open House

July 14, 2010 7:09 AM | News

Winnipeg residents affected by the recent spring flooding are invited to an open house tonight to learn about Disaster Financial Assistance and the impact of heavy rain on the city.

A representative from the province will be on hand and city staff will present information on how the sewer system works and what homeowners can do to reduce their risk of basement flooding.

Homeowners were hit the hardest on May 28 and 29, 2010, as up to 130 millimetres of rain fell in some areas. Ron Kyle (above) was one of those affected that weekend by flooding on Springfield Road.

The open house runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Gateway Recreation Centre, 1717 Gateway Road.
