The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) is distancing itself from a telemarketing campaign where their name is being used.
On Friday, the City of Winnipeg said in a release that individuals are contacting members of the public for specific amounts of money to solicit funds on behalf of the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs. During the calls, the WFPS is being referenced.
The telephone solicitation campaign is not affiliated with the WFPS or the city.
The public can contact the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs at 1-800-775-5189 or CAFC.ca if they have any questions.
